The Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) , Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday shut down the ancient city of Abeokuta during a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his country home.
Tinubu was received by Governor Dapo Abiodun, former Governor Gbenga Daniel, his predecessor, Segun Osoba and state government functionaries.
The visit was the first time Tinubu would be meeting the former President since he picked the presidential ticket on June 8, 2022.
Tinubu arrived Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) on a courtesy visit and had a closed door meeting with the former President.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu later left for MKO Abiola Int’l stadium, Kuto Abeokuta where massive crowd was waiting to receive him.
Tinubu declared he was in the State to thank them and not for the campaign yet.
He said he came to appreciate Ogun APC for supporting his 2023 presidential ambition and the re-election bid of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
While addressing party members and supporters at the stadium who welcomed him to the State shortly after visiting the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Tinubu said “It is not campaign time yet. I’ve not come to campaign. I came to greet the people of Ogun State for their support. I’m glad for all you have been doing. I’m just here to greet all of you and pray for you. God bless you. God bless your family, God bless your children. Thank you all,” he concluded.
His mentor, Chief Bisi Akande , Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Senator Gbenga Kaka among others also joined him at the event.
