July 11, 2017, exactly five years ago, Chief Mrs. Omowumi Akande changed her address from here to be with her Creator, Lord and Saviour.
She was truly a woman of substance. A person of incredible faith, a woman warrior of immense courage. A wonderful mother and grandmother.
Omowumi did not seek the limelight. She was a charming and an attractive person, always positive. She would readily compliment and make people feel special. In my opinion, her life can best be described as a life of service. She did not seek accolades. She always did what she felt needed to be done. She was a true Christian, embracing the teachings of Jesus Christ in the way she conducted her life. Hers was a life well-lived in the spirit of love. Our late First Lady was a champion indeed.
Chief (Mrs) Omowumi Akande was a true mother of the people, community-spirited, generous of heart, kind, compassionate, loving, gracious, a charitable person who impacted the lives of many who came into contact with her.
She was survived by her loving husband, Chief (Dr.) Adebisi Bamdele Akande, The Asiwaju of Ila-Orangun and former Governor of Osun State; five children and many grandchildren.
May her gentle soul continue to rest in peace .
