The Demise of a “Mother of a Nation”: Olori Solape Abolarin, Cherished Wife of Alayeluwa Oba Adedokun ABOLARIN, Orangun of  Oke‑Ila

It is with profound sorrow that the people of Oke‑Ila, the broader Igbomina Kingdom of Osun State, and indeed Nigeria at large, mourn the passing of Olori Solape Christianah Abolarin—a regal consort, philanthropic spirit, and beacon of compassion.

A Partnership in Service and Legacy-building

Throughout her life, Olori Solape stood steadfastly beside Oba Adedokun Abolarin. Together, they conceived and brought to life Abolarin College, a groundbreaking tuition‑free institution specifically dedicated to uplifting children from impoverished homes. Her devotion extended far beyond ceremonial duties: she supported her husband’s initiatives to provide free meals, accommodation, uniforms, sandals, and shoes, ensuring that no deserving child was turned away. More than a queen, Olori Solape was a true mother—her maternal love radiated through every corridor of the college and over the hearts of its students.

With her unwavering support and encouragement, Abolarin College blossomed from a bold vision into a flourishing haven of learning. It became a model of inclusive education in rural southwest Nigeria, proving that access to schooling and nurturing care can change life trajectories. The institution stands as a testament to Kabiesi’s belief and hers: that empowerment begins with education, and true royalty uplifts the least among us.

A Community United in Grief

Her passing leaves a void far beyond palace walls. In Oke‑Ila township, mourning is palpable: shopkeepers close their doors, schools pause in respect, and elders speak tenderly of her kindness. In the wider Igbomina region, stories flow of her humility—Olori Solape didn’t just inspire; she listened, hugged, prayed, and healed. Across Osun State and across the nation, citizens of all walks of life are united in this sorrow.

May Her Gentle Soul Rest in Perfect Peace

As funeral rites approach, prayers and tributes swell. Traditional drumming may echo her farewells; spiritual leaders may speak of her noble character; and generations of young learners, past and present, will honour her in their lives, soaking up opportunities she fought to create.

Her departure is more than the loss of a royal figure—it is the departure of a beloved mother, teacher, mentor, and friend to many. But in every classroom filled, every uniform worn, every barefoot child now shod—her legacy lives on.

May Olori Solape Abolarin’s soul rest in eternal peace.
Oke‑Ila grieves. Nigeria remembers. The seeds of compassion she planted continue to grow.
