NACA Director-General invites residents to benefit from comprehensive healthcare services, rekindling memories of her transformational impact on Ila’s health sector.

A new chapter of hope, compassion, and quality healthcare is about to unfold in Ila-Orangun as the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Dr Temitope Ilori (née Akande), returns to the ancient town with a comprehensive free medical outreach designed to improve the health and well-being of the people.

The much-anticipated outreach will hold on Saturday, 8th August 2026, at Igbonnibi Town Hall, Ila-Orangun, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Dr. Ilori has appealed to residents of Ila-Orangun and neighbouring communities to seize the opportunity by participating in the programme and taking advantage of the wide range of free healthcare services that will be provided by experienced medical professionals.

The outreach will offer General Medical Consultation, HIV Counselling and Testing, Health Education, Laboratory Investigations, Tuberculosis Symptoms Screening and Referral, Nutrition Assessment and Counselling, as well as Referral Services for Specialized Care.

For many residents, this initiative is another demonstration of Dr Ilori’s enduring passion for improving healthcare and touching lives through service. Beyond diagnosing and treating illnesses, the outreach is expected to promote healthy living, encourage early detection of diseases, and strengthen public awareness of preventive healthcare.

A Legacy of Healthcare Transformation

Long before assuming office as the Director-General of NACA, Dr Temitope Ilori had already left an indelible footprint on the healthcare landscape of Ila-Orangun.
As the Honourable Commissioner for Health in Osun State during the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, she spearheaded the renovation and upgrading of the then Ila-Orangun General Hospital into a State Hospital, significantly improving access to quality healthcare for thousands of residents.

Her administration also initiated the construction of modern doctors’ and nurses’ quarters, provided perimeter fencing for the hospital, facilitated the building of a modern mortuary, strengthened the healthcare workforce through the employment of numerous medical personnel from Ila-Orangun, and expanded emergency medical response through the celebrated O’Ambulance Scheme.
Those landmark achievements continue to stand as enduring monuments to purposeful leadership and visionary investment in public health.

The pioneer Chairman of Ila-Orangun Action Council and the Ejemu of Ila-Orangun, High Chief Paul Ogunrinade, once emphasized “Dr Temitope Ilori’s contributions to the development of healthcare in Ila-Orangun continue to speak long after her tenure as Osun State Commissioner for Health.”

A Family Tradition of Service

Observers say Dr Ilori’s commitment to the development of Ila-Orangun reflects the enduring legacy of her father, the elder statesman and Asiwaju of Ila-Orangun, Chief (Dr.) Adebisi Bamdele Akande, CFR, whose contributions to community development continue to shape the destiny of the ancient town.
Among his most remarkable legacies is the facilitation of the establishment of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, an institution that has elevated the town’s profile nationally and internationally while creating new opportunities in medical education, research, and economic development.
Today, Ila-Orangun proudly occupies a strategic position on Nigeria’s educational and healthcare map, thanks to visionary investments that continue to benefit generations.

A Call to Every Resident
Healthcare professionals have consistently emphasised that regular medical check-ups and early diagnosis remain among the most effective ways to prevent complications arising from many illnesses. The free outreach therefore presents an invaluable opportunity for residents to know their health status and receive professional medical advice without financial burden.
Community leaders have commended Dr Ilori for remembering her roots and giving back to her people through impactful healthcare interventions.

As residents prepare to gather at Igbonnibi Town Hall, expectations are high that the programme will not only bring healing to individuals but also strengthen public confidence in preventive healthcare and community-based medical services.

For the people of Ila-Orangun and neighbouring communities, this outreach is more than a medical mission. It is a powerful reminder that compassionate leadership, when matched with professional excellence, can restore hope, improve lives, and build healthier communities.

“Quality healthcare should never be a privilege reserved for a few. This outreach is about bringing hope, healing, and preventive care closer to the people.”
