
In an extraordinary celebration of heritage, leadership, and Yoruba cultural pride, The Distinguished Senator Ajagunnla Olubiyi Fadeyi was on Saturday, 6th December 2026, installed and coronated as “The Ajagunnla Oodua Ti Ilẹ Yorùbá” and his wife, Erelu Olajumoke Fadeyi as The Yeye Ajagunnla of the Source” by His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, The Ooni of Ife.
The colourful ceremony formed one of the major highlights of the Ooni’s grand 10th Coronation Anniversary, attracting dignitaries from across Nigeria and the global Yoruba diaspora.
A GATHERING OF TITANS
The event assembled an impressive constellation of national and cultural leaders. Chief among them was the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, who graced the ceremony with her distinguished presence and was installed as “The Yeye Oodua of the Source”.
Also in attendance were Distinguished Senators, revered traditional rulers, prominent chiefs, business executives, political associates, entrepreneurs, friends, and admirers from across the world, reflecting the immense honour associated with the new title.
THE ROYAL PRESENCE OF THE IGBOMINA KINGDOM
A remarkable highlight of the event was the noble attendance of the foremost custodians of Igbomina heritage. Present at the coronation was the Head of the entire Igbomina Kingdom, who symbolizes the ancient progenitor of the race — His Imperial Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Wahab Oyedotun, Bibiire I, The Orangun of Ila, custodian of the throne founded by Orangun Fagbamila Ajagunnla.
He was joined by His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, and all the First-Class Obas from Igbomina in Kwara State, marking a powerful display of unity within the Igbomina royal axis.
Their presence not only honoured Senator Fadeyi but also reconnected the coronation to the deep historic roots of the title Ajagunnla.
ROOTED IN AN ANCIENT ROYAL LINEAGE
The Distinguished Senator hails from Ila-Orangun, the traditional headquarters of the Igbomina Kingdom, the cradle of a proud people whose origin flows from the revered Orangun Fagbamila Ajagunnla.
Thus, the conferment of “Ajagunnla Oodua Ti Ilẹ Yorùbá” aligns profoundly with both his ancestral heritage and his contemporary role as a unifier and advocate of progress.
ILA-ORANGUN STOOD OUT IN COLOURS
The people of Ila-Orangun electrified the atmosphere as they arrived in grand style, adorned in beautifully designed Aso Ebi Ankara. Their solidarity, cultural pride, and joyous display became one of the most captivating scenes of the celebration.
A NIGHT OF MUSIC, CULTURE AND ENDLESS CELEBRATION
The ceremony was elevated by legendary performances from Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey and Dr Yinka Ayefele, whose music added depth, nostalgia, and vibrancy to the festive ambience.
At the reception held at the Sports Centre of Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, guests enjoyed an unparalleled feast. In an astonishing display of hospitality, food and drinks flowed continuously from 1 p.m. on Saturday until 7 a.m. on Sunday, transforming the arena into a cultural carnival of abundance.

Senator Ajagunnla Olubiyi Fadeyi and Erelu Ajagunnla, Olajumoke Fadeyi, dazzled guests with their exquisite and regal traditional attire. Their elegance, poise, and magnetic presence made them the undeniable centre of attraction throughout the celebration.
