Map of Ila-Orangun

There was a time when Nigeria’s healthcare sector thrived, operating efficiently and effectively. However, detrimental policies and counterproductive decisions have diminished the industry over the years. One of the most concerning consequences of this decline is the shortage of middle-level healthcare workers, an essential component of a well-functioning healthcare system.

In 2017, during my trip to the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA) Conference in South Korea, this crisis weighed heavily on my mind. As I reflected on the state of our healthcare system, an idea struck me: ‘What if we establish an institution dedicated to training these critical middle-level professionals?’ After all, necessity is the mother of invention.

Upon returning to Nigeria, I shared this vision with Baba Akande, the first person to hear of my dream. His enthusiasm was immediate, and his words of wisdom, which were filled with encouragement and insight, remain invaluable to me.

Given the magnitude of the project and our commitment to excellence, it was clear that collaboration was key. I reached out to individuals with the same vision and passion for healthcare improvement, those I proudly refer to as the ‘Promoters’, to join me in bringing this initiative to life.

And now, with great pride and joy, I announce the birth of the Precise College of Health and Biomedical Technology, Ila-Orangun – an institution dedicated to producing skilled middle-level healthcare workers who will help restore the integrity of our national healthcare system.

Scheduled to commence operations in September 2025, this institution is founded on principles of functional education, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the skills and competencies needed to stand independently and contribute meaningfully to the health sector.

Our mission is to train professionals and uplift our nation’s healthcare system, serve humanity, and foster development in Ila-Orangun and beyond.

As we embark on this journey, I extend my deepest gratitude to all who will support us in making this vision a reality. Your cooperation is invaluable, and together, we can build a self-sustaining, enduring institution that will stand as a beacon of excellence in healthcare education.

Thank you, and may the good Lord bless this endeavour, Ila-Orangun, Osun State, and Nigeria.
