The Chairman of Ila Traditional Council, Alayeluwa Oba Wahab Olukayode Oyedotun, Bibiire 1, The Orangun of Ila, has sent a congratulatory message to the newly sworn-in Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, following the resignation of Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Tanko, who was appointed in 2019, resigned from his position on Sunday, June 26, 2022, citing ill-health. His resignation came just days after 14 Supreme Court justices wrote him a letter lamenting the state of the apex court.
In the letter personally signed by Kabiesi and made available to our correspondent through his Personal Assistant, Prince Jamiu Omololu; Orangun stated “My dear namesake, I write to congratulate you on this new assignment as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, I pray for God’s wisdom and strength and may the almighty God grant you resounding success. Please, uphold the principles of supremacy of law, equality before the law, protection of fundamental human rights and fairness in the application of the law.” He emphasised.
