For many years, residents of Ajegunle Community in Ila-Orangun endured the hardship of a badly damaged road that hindered movement, slowed economic activity and made daily life difficult for both residents and visitors. That long period of frustration is now giving way to relief, following the reconstruction of the 10-kilometre Ajegunle–Isinmi Olootu-Alogun- Ora Road, a project facilitated by Hon. Clement Akanni, popularly known as Olohunwa, who represents Ila/Ifedayo/Boluwaduro Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
The road, which links communities across Ila and Ifedayo Local Government Areas of Osun State, is considered a vital route for farmers and traders. Beyond easing transportation, the project is expected to improve access to markets, strengthen agricultural activities and support economic growth in the area.
In appreciation of the development, the people of Ajegunle Community have sent a congratulatory message to Hon. Akanni, describing the project as the fulfilment of a long-awaited promise and a sign of purposeful representation.
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Ejemu of Ila-Orangun, Chief Paul Ogunrinade, described the federal lawmaker as a “talk and do” leader whose actions have matched his campaign promises.
“During his electioneering campaign, Hon. Clement Akanni promised to facilitate the reconstruction of the Ajegunle Road, and today he has put an end to the suffering of the people of this community. He is truly a man of his word,” the community leader said.
The traditional ruler of Ajegunle Community, HRH Oba Olalere, also expressed delight over the project, recalling the years of hardship residents suffered because of the road’s poor condition.
According to the monarch, many motorists were unable to drive into the community and often had to park their vehicles at the premises of Hallelujah Baptist Church before trekking to their homes. In several cases, visitors were forced to abandon their journeys and return to family compounds or nearby hotels for the night because the road had become impassable.
“The suffering of our people was unimaginable. This road project has restored hope and dignity to our community,” the royal father said.
Residents also praised the lawmaker for remembering the needs of grassroots communities. One resident described Hon. Akanni as a compassionate leader who has shown genuine concern for the welfare of his constituents, praying for God’s continued protection, wisdom and blessings upon him.
A woman in the community noted that the Ajegunle Road is the third major road project in Ila-Orangun to receive significant attention, after the Oparinde and Faje Township Roads.
In gratitude, she offered a prayer in Yoruba: “Akanni Olohunwa kò ní lolè lailai.”
Translated, the prayer means: “May Hon. Akanni Olohunwa never experience disgrace or downfall.”

For the people of Ajegunle, the reconstructed road represents more than a physical infrastructure project. It symbolises fulfilled promises, renewed confidence in democratic representation and hope for a better future.
As farmers, traders, students and commuters begin to enjoy easier access to markets, schools and neighbouring communities, the project stands as a testament to the impact of responsive leadership and development-focused governance.
