Pa Prince GAO Oyinlola, 98, hails from Ile Olumobi, Eyindi, Ila-Orangun. He was the first enrolled student of the Native Administration School, one of the first schools in Ila-Orangun.
He is a retired Permanent Secretary of the old Oyo State and the first Ila-Orangun indigene to hold that post. He is a man of tremendous memory, a good writer, who meticulously gives attention to details. Pa Oyinlola is straight forward and he’s of high integrity.
It is on record that Prince G.A.O. Oyinlola was in the civil service of the old Western Region of Nigeria between November 1, 1958 and February 1, 1983 before he retired as Permanent Secretary in the old Oyo State.
While in the civil service, Pa Prince G.A.O. Oyinlola succeeded in the appointment and promotion of Ila and non-Ila indigenes at Federal, State and local government levels. It is interesting to mention that Pa Oyinlola was instrumental to the first appointment of the late Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun, CFR, NPM, fwc. As an Assistant Secretary (Finance) in the Ministry of Works and Transport 1960-61, his efforts in the provision of potable water supply to Ila-Orangun yielded positive result as the scheme was commissioned in 1967. Through his efforts while serving in the Military Government’s Office (1974, 1975 and 1979). He caused the execution and eventually commissioning of the Rural Electrification scheme for Ila-Orangun in 1976.
As the National President of Asepo Omo Igbomina, he led the association in presenting a document to the Presidency and the National Assembly, Abuja in April 2005 requesting for the creation of a state for Igbomina people of Osun and Kwara States.
A good Christian who willingly renders helps to deserving ones. He is also a good family (now a widower) blessed with six children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Through God’s grace, he is a very healthy man, enjoying filial love and care.
