On Monday, 23rd of May, 2022, Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi defeated Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa (Asejere), a former Osun State PDP Chairman; Kamarudeen Ajisafe (Kosolowoe), a former Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government and Kola Ogunwale (Jumokol), a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to become the PDP standard bearer in Osun Central Senatorial District.
Fadeyi polled 157, OlaOluwa 106, Ajisafe 77 and Sen. Jumokol Ogunwale 15.
Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi hails from Ilé Èrán in Oke Ede quarters, Ila-Orangun .
On the other hand, Senator representing Osun East district, Sen. Adenigba Francis Fadahunsi aka Fada has also won the Osun East Senatorial ticket under the platform of his party, PDP.
Fadahunsi defeated his closest rival, Gbenga Onigbogi to clinch the party’s ticket in a 187 to 137 keenly contested primary election between the two party men.
At the same time, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, a former Commissioner of National Population Commission, defeated his opponent, Dr. Peter Babalola aka Peter Power and Mr Dele Adeleke of Adeleke dynasty, Ede to clinch the ticket of the party for the second consecutive time, having contested in 2019.
Meanwhile, Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi in his letter of appreciation made available to our correspondent in Osogbo, Ms Naimot Adebayo, to the Party Leaders, Delegates, Campaign Team and Well-wishers wrote “First and foremost, I thank God Almighty for the successful conduct of the just concluded Osun Central senatorial primary election as well as the safe arrival of our delegates, our campaign team and party officials back to their various destinations.
“I am grateful to the national chairman of our great party, Senator (Dr) Iyorcha Ayu, the Osun State PDP caretaker committee headed by Dr. Akindele Adekunle and leaders of our party in Ila local government and also at all levels for organising a primary election that allowed members of our party in Osun central senatorial district to elect a candidate in a responsible, safe, fair and rancour-free process devoid of imposition or favouritism.
“To our esteemed delegates, I convey my deepest gratitude for the great and onerous responsibility you have bestowed on me to be the party’s flag bearer in the 2023 national assembly election in order achieve our collective dream of uplifting the lives of the good people of Osun Central.
