Distinguished Senator Olubiyi Oluwole Fadeyi, popularly known as Ajagunnla Oodua Ti Ile Yoruba, the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, has sympathised with the Government and people of Oyo State as well as the families of the school children and teachers abducted by suspected bandits in Orire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and made available to journalists, Senator Fadeyi described the incident as a tragic and unfortunate development that has brought pain and anguish to the affected families and the entire nation.

He expressed concern over the increasing cases of insecurity in parts of the country and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure the immediate and safe rescue of all the abductees.

According to him, the abduction of innocent children and their teachers is a grievous crime that must be condemned by all well-meaning Nigerians, irrespective of political, religious, or ethnic affiliations.

“I sympathise with the Government of Oyo State, the management of the affected school, and the families of the children and teachers who are currently in captivity. My thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult period,” he said.

The elder statesman urged the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security agencies to deploy every available resource toward securing the release of the victims alive and unharmed.

Senator Fadeyi also condemned in strong terms the activities of bandits, kidnappers, terrorists, and other criminal elements who continue to threaten the peace and stability of the nation.

He warned those perpetrating such heinous crimes and their sponsors to immediately desist from their unlawful activities, surrender their arms, and embrace peace, stressing that the Nigerian state possesses the constitutional authority and capacity to deal decisively with anyone determined to undermine national security.

“The continuous acts of banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism are unacceptable and constitute a direct attack on our collective peace, security, and future. Those involved should retrace their steps, surrender their weapons, and embrace lawful means of livelihood or be ready to face the full wrath of the Nigerian State,” he stated.

Senator Ajagunnla Olubiyi Fadeyi further called for enhanced cooperation among governments at all levels, security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and citizens in tackling insecurity and protecting lives and property across the country.

He concluded by praying for the safe return of the abducted children and teachers and expressed optimism that security agencies would rise to the occasion and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Distinguished Senator reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Nigeria where every child can pursue education without fear and every citizen can live and work in safety.

NOTE:

Ori Ire is the largest local government area in Oyo State, covering an expansive 2,116 km² of landmass. On an Oyo State map, you will find it bordering Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, Surulere, and Ogo-Oluwa local governments, while also sharing a northern boundary with Kwara State.
