The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi III joined his ancestors on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the ripe age of 83 at Afe Babalola Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti after a brief illness.
The remains of the revered king was taken to Oyo in the early hours of Saturday, April 23, 2022.
Iku Baba Yeye, Adeyemi III was born on October 23, 1938 to Oba Adeniran Adeyemi II and Olori Ibironke Adeyemi of Alowolodu Rulling House of Oyo Town.
Oba Olayiwola who succeeded Oba Gbadegesin Ladigbolu I, ascended the throne of Alaafin of Oyo at a young age of 31 on October 15, 1970 and graciously reigned for 52 years. He was survived by 18 wives, many children and grandchildren.
