The Presiding Bishop of Faithtriumph Ministries International, Baltimore, Maryland, United States, Rt. Rev. Felix Owolabi and wife, Rev. Dr. Temitayo Felix Owolabi on Monday donated and handover a Tahoma Hilux Patrol Vehicle to Àmòtékùn Security Outfit in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State.
In his address, Bishop Owolabi said “As you all know that one of the major challenges facing our dear nation today is security of lives and properties. Just yesterday we heard of the unfortunate and horrific incident that befell worshipped at St. France Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State where about 50 people lost their lives to the attack by unknown gunmen. To me, national peace, public security and social stability are extremely important for any country in the world. Nothing is possible without peace and stability”
“Meanwhile, as friends, we know fully well that the Nigeria Police and other para-military outfits are logistically handicapped in providing adequate and effective security to the Nigerian security.
“This donation is mainly intended to show solidarity with security agencies and at the same time, we do hope that the patrol vehicle can help AMOTEKUN Security Outfit in a modest way to fight against crimes and provide better and more effective security protection for the residents on Oke-Ila Orangun in particular and Osun State at large.
“We are here to hand over the patrol vehicle to AMOTEKUN Security outfit in Ifedayo Local Government. We know there are security problems in different parts of the country but we thank GOD in Ifedayo that we enjoy relative peace but we are not over confident.
“All we are doing is to maintain peace in our community in particular and Osun State at large. Because of what is happening in our neighbouring states, we need to make efforts to maintain peace in our state.” He emphasised.
In his response, The Proprietor of Abolarin College and The Orangun of Oke-Ila, Alayeluwa Oba Adedokun Omoniyi Abolarin said the recent attacks in Nigeria, especially the Sunday massacre in Òwò, Ondo State, is a pointer to the fact that the country is not safe to live. “What happened last year in Igangan and yesterday in Owo is a sign that we must be very vigilant. It is important that the government should help the boundary communities and beef up the security in those areas.”
Oba Abolarin saluted the kind gesture of Bishop and Rev Dr. Mrs Felix Owolabi for the donation of the Patrol Vehicle to the communities in Ifedayo Local Government and environ and also pledged to work hand in hand with the security operatives to reduce crime rate in the domain.
In her remarks, Rev. Dr. Mrs. Temitayo Felix Owolabi admonished Oke-Ila youths to be Job Creators rather than Job Seekers. She encouraged them to learn a trade at least and create jobs for others instead of roaming about looking for white-cola job. “A lot of people who made it in life are job creators and not just certificate carriers. Ask God for uncommon ideas and be a solution to people ‘s problems” she concluded
