With hearts filled with gratitude to God, we celebrate the elevation of Hon. Justice Joseph Olubunmi Oyewole to the Supreme Court of Nigeria—the apex of the nation’s judiciary.
This historic elevation is not merely a personal achievement; it is a triumph of integrity, perseverance, and divine orchestration. For decades, His Lordship has stood as a shining example of what the judiciary represents at its very best—courage without compromise, learning without arrogance, and justice without fear or favour.
An illustrious son of Ila-Orangun in Osun State, Justice Oyewole’s judicial journey has been marked by uncommon diligence and unimpeachable character. From his days in the Lagos State Judiciary to his service at the Federal High Court across several states of the federation, and later at the Court of Appeal, he earned a reputation as a jurist whose judgments speak the language of fairness, clarity, and fidelity to the rule of law.
Though at one time he was denied the opportunity to serve as the Chief Judge of Osun State due to parochial considerations, Providence has now elevated him far above such limitations to the highest judicial seat in the land. Indeed, what seemed a setback has become a stepping stone to greater honour, affirming the timeless truth that promotion comes from God alone. As the Holy Bible reminds us, “All things work together for good for those who love God.” – Romans 8:28
Justice Oyewole’s life and career are powerful lessons to younger generations of legal practitioners—that excellence, patience, and integrity will always find their reward in due season. His elevation reassures Nigerians that the Supreme Court remains enriched by men of honour and sound judgment.
Today, Ila-Orangun rejoices. Osun State celebrates. Nigeria is proud.
We salute a jurist, a patriot, and a man whose life embodies the dignity of the law.
Congratulations, My Lord, on this well-deserved and divinely ordained elevation to the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
