It gives us an honour to celebrate one of the political icons in Ila-Orangun on his birthday, Dr. Olumide Babatunde.
A strong, confident leader and politician like him who is so devoted, dedicated, and puts in so much effort deserves at least one day to sit back to whoopee and revel in all of his political accomplishments and hard work.

Dr. Olumide Babatunde, who is the immediate past Chairman of Ila Local Government, Ila-Orangun, was born to the family of Late Chief Daniel Adebayo Babatunde and Mrs. Abigael Babatunde of Edigbon compound, Oke-Ede, Ila-Orangun on 18th December, 1956.
He had his Primary School Education at Salvation Army Primary School, Hogan Bassey, Yaba Lagos between 1964 and 1971. He attended the prestigious Ila Grammar School, Ila-Orangun from 1973 to 1977. His post primary education took him to the polytechnic, Ibadan 1980-1981. He thereafter proceeded to the University of Ibadan from 1982-1987 where he obtained Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S). Dr. Babatunde started his working experience as a Medical Officer with Oyo State Hospitals Management Board in 1989. He was a fulltime Board member Osun State Hospitals Management Board from 1991-1993.
As a board member, he assisted the chairman in the recruitment of junior staff, posting, transfer, promotion, discipline of all medical personnel in the employment of Osun State Government and the maintenance of all hospitals’ physical infrastructures.
Dr. Olumide Babatunde was the Executive Chairman, Caretaker Committee Ife East Local Government, Oke-Ogbo, Ile-Ife in 1999. As the Executive Chairman, he formulated and executed policies for the Local Government Area. He was also the Chief Security Officer of the Local Government. He was appointed Permanent Secretary (PS) Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development, Osun State December 2003 to October 2005, PS Bureau of Parastatals, Office of the Governor, October 2005 to December 2007, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Youth Development, January 2008 to February 2009. He was also Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment, March 2009 to August 2010. As a Permanent Secretary, he was the administrative Head and the Chief Accounting Officer. He coordinated the Ministries personnel in the formulation and execution of Government policies. He assisted his commissioners in the successful performance of their ministerial duties, drew up, control and execute government budgets for the various ministries where he served. He carried out any other legitimate inter ministerial assignments as assigned by his commissioners, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Head of Service (HOS) or the Executive Governor. Dr. Babatunde voluntarily retired from Osun State Civil Service on August 31, 2010 after twenty two years of meritorious service in order to seek opportunity in a new capacity where he can use his varied experiences to provide quality leadership in the further development and growth of Osun State in particular and Nigeria in general. He joined Ila Charity Club on 1st January, 2011.
Dr. Babatunde is happily married and blessed with children. He is the Chief Medical Director of Atinike Dental Clinic, Osogbo.
